Today I did something which I never thought that I will do it. I actually want for a voluntary blood donation. I thought I scare needle like hell? Anyway I went for the donation under the pursue of Guan Zhong. At first i wasn't willingly to do it as I am scare of needle. Very scare... Then he was like saying:"Aiya give reasons only." After a few days of thought, I think I should overcome the fear of needle and not letting the needle overcome my fear. Thus today I met with Guan Zhong for blood donation

To my surprise, Kian Boon and Azhar also joined us even though Azhar also a bit scare of needle. Their presence gave me more courage to go for the blood donation.I guess Guan Zhong also feel rather happy that 2 more person to join us in it.Right Tan~??Haha...When I went into the hall, I was like so scared and worried that i can stop talking and complaining my fear. Before we were allowed to donate blood, we have to fill in a form with our medical history and personel particulars. After that, we proceed to registration counter to register and to the doctor for some simple checkup. A blood test in carry out following that and this was my first worry. Although I know I have done it before but somehow still scare of the pain. And expected, i felt a bit of pain for 2 seconds. Ha....Hey..still consider pain hor...Finally I have gone through all the test and I am fit to donate blood. Now the scariest part!!

Not long after Kian Boon went to the "bed", I was also called to the "bed". I was so shocked when I see how big each packet of blood donated by the donor is. And not forget the needle. is thrice thicker than normal injection needle. The needle mark/wound is still visible on my arm now. Gosh~The nurse first use the blood pressure measuring equipment thing to compress my arm. I don't know what she doing but I think is to somehow restrict blood flow to my arm. Then she apply a yellow jelly like thing on the spot where she is going to inject in the thick needle. Before that, she gave me an injection which will make my hand numb. MAn...This was the painest injection as I could feel heat at the injection spot. After it, she injected the thick needle into my arm without i notice it. I don't know if I was dreaming, I don't feel the pain at all. Then I see my own blood flowing into the bag.Hee...Rather interesting and a bit fun lah.So as i squeeze the small blue rubber ball, which is use to help you pressure blood out to your arm, i see blood flowing into the packet.

After a 10 mins or so, finally the packet is filled with my blood. The nurse came over to stop blood flow and cut away the connection tube. By the way this is not the end, she still took blood from me and put into 4 test tubes before taking out the needle. By the way I don't remember feeling the pain when the needle was taken out.I suppose the 4 test tube which filled with my blood is for some test before they really use my blood. The nurse then gave me "cotton" and ask me to press on the spot. After 10 mins, a guy came over with a bandage cloth to hold on to the "cotton". Don't mistaken the bandage cloth as being a serious case. It's a special type with cute design on it.Aiya in short it is use to hold the "cotton".After the blood donation, we were told to drink a lot a lot of water and refreshment was given. Thus, I purposely drank a lot of water at refreshment.Haa...

After today's blood donation drive, I felt a bit of satisfaction. First I was able to experience the process of blood donation. Second, I manage to donate blood despite of my fear of needle. Lastly, I also feel that I have done a part in helping saving people's life. Of course I really hope my blood is suitable and clean to be use so that it can really help saving life. I would like to thank Guan Zhong for asking me to go for such activities. Perhaps the next time you call me, I will say yes without hesitation. Azhar and Kian Boon, without you guys, I do not have that much courage to step into the hall.

To my friends reading it now: If after reading my blog and you also feel like trying it one day but fear of the needle, trust me, the nurse will minimize the pain. The overall pain you will feel is no more than 10 seconds and I am serious. After the process, you will at least feel a sense of satisfaction.
